Ridgetop Dental Group is seeking a full-time Dental and Surgical Assistant at our Sterling, VA location. We are professional and established practice and looking for a dedicated and committed candidate with a minimum of 1+ years experience. Individuals must have a positive attitude, strong initiative, be self-motivated and a team player. We provide mentorship and training for skill development in dental procedures.
Responsibilities:
The Dental Assistant will assist and support the Dentist in the clinical care of our patients.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Digital radiographs knowledge and experience
- Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
- Assisting the Dentist during a variety of treatment procedures, including dental implant surgeries and oral surgery procedures
- Preparing patients for procedures or exams
- Sterilization of instruments and lab procedures
- Working efficiently to maintain doctor's schedule
- Complying with all safety policies
- Providing patients and the practice support services; including, but not limited to, personal assistance and medical attention
- Maintaining dental supplies inventory and ordering

Position Summary: Under indirect supervision or independently, the Associate Dentist diagnoses and treats problems with patient teeth and tissues of the mouth along with providing patient guidance to prevent future oral problems. The Associate Dentist designs treatment options for patients with other support personnel and serves as expert in preparing dental plans. This position must provide patient and practice support services; including, but not limited to, personal assistance, medical attention, and emotional support.
Essential Functions:
· Examine patient mouths for diagnosis of oral health, training, and treatment needs;
· Provide treatment in accordance with standards of care, to include but not limited to:
- Visual exams
- X-ray reviews
- Removing tooth decay
- Filling cavities
- Applying sealants
- Administering anesthetics
- Repair of fractured teeth
- Tooth extractions
- Corrective surgery to patient gums and bones for gum diseases
- Prepare and measure to create models to fit and finish composite/amalgam restorations.
- Replace teeth
- Write prescriptions for antibiotics and pain, as necessary
- General oral care
- Manage asepsis, infection, using and maintaining hazard control protocols as established by OSHA and office standards.
- Refers to specialists, as needed
- Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
- Must maintain regular, consistent and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies.
- Must be able to comfortably and efficiently handle multiple deadlines and task assignments.
- Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings.

- Educating patients about veneers, implants, crowns, bridges, Ortho, Perio and any other treatment that was diagnosed by the dentists
- Consistent follow ups with patients to get them scheduled for their treatment.
- Utilizing technology in the office, e.g. digital photos, intra oral camera photos when educating patients and discussing treatment
- Dealing with difficult patients and doing public relation calls to patients
- Following up with patients after they've completed their treatment plans
